STAFF DEVELOPMENT RETREAT
Staff development workshop – designed for companies and organizations experiencing conflicts and disputes in the workplace using two proven systems approach. Some of the myriad factors that affect organizations or communities are: internal unity, workload of most people and key personnel, ability for people to succeed within the organization, level of trust in management, adequacy of the firm’s systems, practices and procedures for required work, and the organization's current operational performance.
First is a systems approach to conflict management in which Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a tool for improving organizational effectiveness through its integration with other management processes. Employment ADR processes can significantly contribute to building organizational culture that enhances employee participation. Not only can these processes resolve disputes, but they can also contribute to overall improvement in the effectiveness of the organization when fully integrated into the broader management system.
Next is using two different approaches in Change Management Models (Systems) as tools to obtain the type of organizational culture that would support the smooth operational flow of any company. These processes were designed to correct conflicts within the organization that deter the smooth flow in the business operation from management through operations and maintenance. The use of change planning methods can create conditions that help enhance the quality of interactions among people in organizations and communities. The change management systems are essential in the - “development of a strategic plan, restructuring an organization, or directly improving traditional variables such as cost, cycle time, and quality. They also offer new concepts and a safe environment in which to practice new communication skills and patterns of interactions” (Holman, et al, 1999, p.19).
This is conducted in the form of a staff development retreat. The core of this program is the SWOT analysis. Kaya Matthews will facilitate the group by providing scaffolding for each segment in order to meet organizational goals and objectives.
The Staff Development Workshop is a product Kaya Retreats regular program. Please see more at www.kayaretreats.com. (Possible collaboration with Elaine). The cost of these workshops is based on size and other factors of a group.
Staff retreats are generally weekends, and location varies based on effectiveness for the individual group(s). The following is a successful weekend change-management workshop designed for a nonprofit organization that was in a state of chaos and slowly falling apart at the seams. During our change-management workshop, the board of directors and members are able to perform a SWOT analysis facilitated by the retreat director/business consultant. By identifying the membership's strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities as a body, the group takes ownership of situations within the company and accountability is fully established. Existing redundant organizational practices are modified and new ones formulated with full membership participation.
